‘We’ll make this dream come true’

Pat Jarrett bio photo smallPat Jarrett is a photojournalist who specializes in editorial, portrait and assignment photography.

Pat believes in truth, journalism, science, public broadcasting, chocolate milk, the curse of the Wendigo, the quality of the “Lethal Weapon” movie series, evolution, new media and the first half dozen amendments to the Constitution — pretty hard. He functions best on a pot or so of coffee and is a participating member of Beard Team USA. He played bass for a Weezer cover band that only covered “The Blue Album.”

His work has been featured in The Staunton News Leader (where he is a staff photographer), National Public Radio, The Wall Street Journal, The Nation, The Christian Science Monitor, The Denver Post, The Boston Globe, The Virginia Pilot and The Guardian (U.K.). He has also been seen on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”

Ryan Loew is a multimedia journalist who specializes in news ryannewand
feature reporting/writing, photography, video production and Web site design.

As a journalist, Ryan has covered all kinds of subject areas: education, government, crime, business and entertainment. He even wrote about a rhino surgery once. Ryan has also produced in-depth multimedia stories, including one about how a Lansing man wrongly convicted of murder struggled to get back on his feet after his exoneration.

The son of a bus driver and an English teacher, Ryan was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He believes in good spelling and in the importance of rhythm. He has near-encyclopedic knowledge of the movie “Predator” and likes ’90s thrashcore music a bit too much. He also has a Boston terrier named Jack who can bite through hard rubber and has eyes like Biggie Smalls.

Ryan gets the most satisfaction from telling great stories. His work has been featured in the Lansing (Mich.) State Journal (where he is a staff member), the Indianapolis Star and the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch. His stories have been picked up by The Associated Press and have been featured on other Gannett-owned news sites including usatoday.com.
